Message from ABCA Chair, Chris Vaughan
The industry name for Private Sector Building Control Bodies (BCBs) will change in April 2024 when Approved Inspectors will have the opportunity to register with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) as Registered Building Control Approvers (RBCA).
Together with the BSR and Local Authority Building Control (LABC), RBCAs will be one of three regulators providing regulatory services on construction projects in England and Wales. Ahead of this change, the trade association which represents private sector BCBs; the Association of Consultant Approved Inspectors (ACAI), has rebranded as the Association of Registered Building Control Approvers or ABCA. The focus of ABCA will remain the same as the ACAI with the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer transitioning across to ABCA, together with the Exec Committee. We will continue to work with the BSR, HSE, DLUHC and other stakeholders to raise standards of Building Control in the industry, ensure that our members are fully represented, our voice heard and members interests protected.
ABCA are pleased to launch our new website which contains useful resources and industry news together with a members’ forum for building control professionals to discuss and debate all things building control.
We hope you like our new website and branding and would welcome any feedback.
Chris Vaughan
Chair, Association of Building Control Approvers
